Fresh from Filter Press: Portfolio Indian Cinema Lyrics Book Covers in Gujarati letterpress

Our latest publication, Portfolio, is a charming set of Indian cinema lyrics books – each printed in single colour Gujarati letterpress – curated from a private archive. Limited to a print run of only 150 copies, it’s a valuable collectible for designers, typographers and the odd cinema lover too.

 


Painful People – A limited edition handmade art book

We’re delighted to launch the latest title from Filter Press – Painful People. It’s a limited edition design book that is completely handmade. Commissioned by Filter Press, the author has humorously profiled the annoying characters found in India’s cities. All the illustrations have been personally hand-stamped by the author, instead of being printed

Filter Merchandise for Kala ghoda festival

To celebrate the Kala Ghoda Festival this year, Filter - the design shop at Kala Ghoda, presents a series of posters, notebooks, folders and mugs featuring the iconic statue of the Prince of Wales presented by Sir Albert Sassoon. Based on the original etchings of the legendary W. Simpson, published in Illustrated London News, 1879. Perfect to bring home a part of Mumbai’s history.

 



An exhibition of original 60’s psychedelic rock posters – January 2014

This was an exhibition of highly rare and original posters from the estate of famous rock concert promoter and impresario, Bill Graham. It featured the gods of psychedelic rock, such as Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Family Dog, and more. And also had a variety of rock merchandise and curated LPs on display and up for grabs, for those who wished to take some love from the 60’s back with them.



Certified B - March 2013

Certified B was commissioned for the first Focus Photography Festival (www.focusfestivalmumbai.com). Photographers Prasad Naik and Manish Sampat captured B Grade cinema halls with a series of prints and installed a pop-up photo studio to give visitors a chance to get a few dirty pictures of their own.



Double Decker - December 2012

Designed by Akshay Tyagi, this capsule collection was a quirky take on the visual elements that continue to dominate the bustling city of Mumbai. Crafted by designer Akshay Tyagi, the hand-embroidered cotton shirts paid tribute to the city's textile and garment history without losing focus on contemporary trends. For folks who love the city of Mumbai, this was a chance to wear her on their sleeves.



Fortified - July 2012

A collection of prints shot exclusively for Filter by photographer Aashim Tyagi. The pictures innovatively showcased the architecture and iconic structures around the Fort area of Mumbai. The prints are now currently sold at the store.



10 Artists & a Fort - March 2012

A bunch — well ten to be precise — of the city's most noted photographers, artists and illustrators were invited to create a work of art that drew inspiration from the Fort area of Mumbai. The result was a showcase of some of the finest talent under one roof in Fort.
